saturday night is all right

a juke box is like a time capsule
nostalgia is a little like heroin or diet pills
and love is like being the one

no one can tell you anything
when you're stubborn and biased
in all sorts of sordid
and subtle ways

forever
a word loaded with every possible power

and the mahogany bar angles at forty-five degrees
and the saturday night crowd
stays in for the storm

half-way done perhaps
dully aware of what's coming
and as vested as ever in dreaming
my harlot harlequin love

forever
a word loaded with death and disease and sadness

i heard a rainbow
i saw a hurricane's breadth
and for once didn't see intelligent design
just light
energy and light

i heard a pint glass
i saw heaping piles of quarter-pounders
and for once didn't see will or lack
just light
love and light

forever
a word loaded with bacon bits and vegan cheese

beautiful agony
the face of the word pleased
etched in every goodness

gesticulate
gyrate till you can't stand
and then stand

forever
a word loaded with more beauty than any other

give away all your power
don't ever give away all your power
all one

struggle strive make create enrich
never struggle or strive or make or create or enrich
all one

forever
a word made of the ice you smash your heart beneath

and when you wake up in the morning
and pray to gods and toilets and angels and angel toilets
kiss a mouth full on the lips

take up the gauntlet
and the the scepter
all there ever was or will etc
stays for your commanding

forever
a word just so

the echo of every goodness
in every crevice which deserves
such a name

where have you gone
saxophone solo

forever
a word
